Some Thoughts on Nov 2nd

I haven't been blogging much because I've had other items to attend to. However I thought I'd say a few things prior to the US Election. I've already predicted way back in the spring that the Dems will get their asses handed to them. However I am truly worried about election fraud and other typical leftist shenanigans.

The John Stewart rally struck me as totally pathetic. Stewart is not funny. He's the smart ass guy at the back of the class taking the piss out of the Science teachers checked trousers, nothing more. Mr. Know it all, Mr. Sneer. He is a poor imitation of what Chevy Chase did well on Saturday Night Live decades ago.

Colbert is another sad case. The walking talking straw man. If conservatives were of color perhaps he'd put on black face and sing negro spirituals. What he does is no different. He pretends to be a conservative, but isn't, and as a pretend conservative he can say the things that we don't really say, but all the self important progressives THINK we say.

So 30,000 people showed up at their rally. Great.

Cat Stevens?? I'm sorry but why exactly would you invite that old twat? I hated Cat Stevens long before he became a self-righteous Islamic mouthpiece. I hated his flaccid-dick bearded hippy strumming back in the 1970s. But that's just me. I don't understand what point inviting him makes. Are the youth of today interested in this guy? Do they even know who he is other than some crap their bra less hippy Aunt listens to? I don't know. All I know is if Stewart and Colbert were trying to out do Glenn Beck they failed.

As for tomorrow's vote... It would be nice to think that what has been happening, slowly over the last however many years, with more and more intrusive "guidance" from our betters could be stopped at the ballot box. Let's hope it does.

Now having visited various American Cities I have noticed that some of the sidewalks are on par with say Laos. However, there were also many places I wouldn't want to walk, or bike or even drive into for that matter. But that aside to make something equal which is not is typical of the backwards thinking of Hippies.

Toronto has a policy not unlike what is suggested here and it's nightmarish. Less than 10 percent of the traffic gets huge funding for "bike paths" which means they paint a line on the road making it smaller. The bike-nazis, most of which should be riding a broom, pedal about like the Over Lords of Tomorrowland disregarding all rules of traffic, riding on sidewalks when in suits them, and going into a pious rage when a motorist doesn't notice them. This usually happens when they ride up into a drivers "blind spot". You know, that place where you might not see A TRUCK coming up behind you. But all drivers are some how expected to see them or hear them ringing their pathetic little bells inside a running car.

Jesu Christi, help us. The one thing that is most annoying about these idiots is that they are as self-important and bossy as they are clueless. No wonder so many go of them go into teaching.

Earth Hour My Ass

One thing that points out the utter and complete stupidity of Earth Hour, besides the fact it doesn't change anything, is that the organizers seem to be under the delusion that its the same time everywhere on the planet. I hate to be the one to point this out but its not. The world is round you see. Because of the the rotation we have this thing called time zones. In fact it isn't even March 28th everywhere at the same time. When earth hour is going on in New York its 7 am in Hong Kong.

Jumping on the the now wheel-less band wagon the Liberal Party of Canada have "heard the call" and are suggesting a new carbon tax. The logic being if we can't dictate your behaviour through the courts we will force you to do as we wish by making it expensive. This won't effect the well paid leadership of the Liberals however.

Warmer Colder

In light of the recent Climategate email leak one thing all those opposed to these stupid hippy laws restricting everything on behalf of Gaia should consider.

The question here isn't whether it is getting colder or warmer. Because they'll (the hippies) will switch that up as it suits them. The question that they need to be called on is DID WE CAUSE THIS. When they say "yes" we need to say, "okay, prove it to me".

Clearly it is not getting any warmer and they've bet on the wrong horse. But don't think they won't rename warming to something else and just keep going with this. They will. They are like zombies.

Taliban Expanding Foothold in Afghanistan, Report Finds

The Taliban have expanded their footprint in Afghanistan and now have a permanent presence in nearly three-quarters of the country, according to a new report.

The Paris-based International Council on Security and Development, a think tank that maintains full-time offices in Afghanistan, said the Taliban have spread across much of the country and are beginning to encircle the capital, Kabul.

The group said Taliban fighters have advanced out of southern Afghanistan, a region where they often hold de facto governing power, and carry out regular attacks in western and northwestern Afghanistan as well as in and around Kabul. Taliban forces can be found in 72% of Afghanistan, up from 54% a year earlier.

"While the international community's prospects in Afghanistan have never been bleaker, the Taliban has been experiencing a renaissance that has gained momentum since 2005," the report said. "The West is in genuine danger of losing Afghanistan."

Afghanistan has seen a sharp spike in violence this year, with U.S. fatalities and civilian casualties hitting records. Some American commanders fear the Taliban will start an offensive this winter. President-elect Barack Obama has said he will deploy tens of thousands of new troops to Afghanistan, shifting resources from Iraq.

There are currently about 34,000 American troops in Afghanistan, and the Pentagon has announced plans to send at least 20,000 reinforcements in 2009. Obama aides have said the new administration also will work to strengthen Afghanistan's central government, judiciary and national police force.

The think tank mapped recent attacks in Afghanistan and said provinces with at least one strike per month had a "permanent Taliban presence."

Norine MacDonald, the think tank's president and lead researcher, said the Taliban, following the strategy of earlier Afghan insurgents, are slowly encircling Kabul by establishing bases close to the city and regularly attacking three of the four major roads leading out of the capital.

Ms. MacDonald said the number of attacks inside the city, including assassinations and kidnappings of Westerners and Afghans, has also increased sharply.

The group recommends that U.S. and NATO commanders minimize their use of military power, recruit troops from Muslim nations into the current American- and European-dominated multinational force and expand economic assistance.

So the Taliban are expanding and NATO should not use military power? Huh? If you had any doubt this "Thinktank" was in Paris...

There is one central problem with this report. Even if the Taliban were every where and ready to pounce... They can't fight our troops beyond the road-side bomb method.

For every "attack" they try they lose 10 men to NATO's one. In some cases NATO hasn't lost any men while killing dozens of these idiots. So if the Taliban is indeed in 72 percent of the country all that really means they're just that much closer to being killed.

During the April 16 debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, moderator George Stephanopoulos brought up “a gentleman named William Ayers,” who “was part of the Weather Underground in the 1970s. They bombed the Pentagon, the Capitol, and other buildings. He’s never apologized for that.” Stephanopoulos then asked Obama to explain his relationship with Ayers. Obama’s answer: “The notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was eight years old, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn’t make much sense, George.” Obama was indeed only eight in early 1970. I was only nine then, the year Ayers’s Weathermen tried to murder me.

People will have to be rationed to four modest portions of meat and one litre of milk a week if the world is to avoid run-away climate change, a major new report warns.

The report, by the Food Climate Research Network, based at the University of Surrey, also says total food consumption should be reduced, especially "low nutritional value" treats such as alcohol, sweets and chocolates.

It urges people to return to habits their mothers or grandmothers would have been familiar with: buying locally in-season products, cooking in bulk and in pots with lids or pressure cookers, avoiding waste and walking to the shops - alongside more modern tips such as using the microwave and internet shopping.

The report goes much further than any previous advice after mounting concern about the impact of the livestock industry on greenhouse gases and rising food prices. It follows a four-year study of the impact of food on climate change and is thought to be the most thorough study of its kind.

Who pays for these studies anyways?

Tara Garnett, the report's author, warned that campaigns encouraging people to change their habits voluntarily were doomed to fail and urged the government to use caps on greenhouse gas emissions and carbon pricing to ensure changes were made. "Food is important to us in a great many cultural and symbolic ways, and our food choices are affected by cost, time, habit and other influences," the report says. "Study upon study has shown that awareness-raising campaigns alone are unlikely to work, particularly when it comes to more difficult changes."

Why not just declair it YEAR ZERO and move everyone on to collective rice farms? It worked so well for the Cambodians.

Inspired by ideas raised at a grassroots Obama fundraiser, a music teacher, Kathy Sawada, and the children composed and rehearsed the songs in less than two weeks.

So THAT'S why it sucks!

Several musicians heard of the effort and volunteered to accompany the children. Parents and older siblings designed and provided the T-Shirts and the banner. There’s a first for everything, but rarely do so many firsts come together at once: for the children and their parents, this is their first performance, first video, first banner, and first involvement with grassroots work on a presidential campaign.

As Sunday approached, a neighbor volunteered a home. Production wizards got wind of the project and offered their help in recordingit. The likes of Jeff Zucker, Holly Schiffer, Peter Rosenfeld, Darin Moran, Jean Martin, Andy Blumenthal, and Nick Phoenix rearranged schedules to participate. Holly Schiffer was able to get three High Definition cameras (Panasonic HVX250’s), and an AVID editing facility. When Jeff Zucker went to pick up the camera package, Ted Schilowitz happened to be there and offered a RED camera set up on a SteadiCam.

Just HAPPENED TO BE THERE WITH A STEADICAM. Right....

What we accomplished in a few hours on a Sunday afternoon embodies the nature of the Obama campaign: its grassroots inspiration, its inclusiveness, its community building. People pitched in quickly for a cause that resonated with them. There were not many conditions: “Think this is a good idea? Want to help? Great. Sunday at 12:00.” At the heart of the project were 22 children and their music. The willingness of all involved to come together for them was a testament to our hope, unity, courage, joy and belief in the future represented by these children.

Contrived, sickly sweet and vapid in a bongo beating I'd like to teach the world to sing nonsense kind of way. Politics and world view for people who've never been in the real world.

God, help us.

Hillary Scares the Youth

I have to admit that I am taking great pleasure in watching the smug "we know what's best for you" Queen Hillary get completely routed by Mr. Obama. That's not to say he'll do a better job. I just like to see her and her handlers who were so sure, SO SURE get completely thrashed.

"How can this be?" they ask.

For the first time they are confronted with just being old. Not old like Grampa McCain. But OLD, in tired old the same old will you please shut up about the 1960s old. They represent that generation.

I don't know about anyone else but i was sick of their opinions on everything by the time I was 10. And that was in 1976.

A generation that define themselves by a war they never fought and a rock show they never attended. The youth of today with their fax machines and hoola hoops are just not down with it, man.

After 30 years of teachers, guidance consulars, and principals who all look, act and sound just like Hillary Clinton it amazes me that they have any youth vote at all. Mr. Obama on the other hand seems more like the gym teacher. The new one. The one who isn't a jerk to the nerds and can out run the jocks and is well spoken. Who wouldn't vote for him? Well not a Republican of course but I'm trying to look at this from a neutral point of view.

The by-line claims the author is in Bangkok but if so he should know the following. Only 3 provinces in the South are under "Martial Law". Not half the country. Not even a third.

Constitution kept secret?

Hello, they are handing out delivering and providing big yellow books outlining all of the articles in the Constitution to everyone. They are running adverts on TV advising people to not fight but VOTE.

The anti-vote "we vote no" people are well organized and handing out fliers and leaflets explaining why to vote no. And they are allowed to so long as they don't throw bricks from the sidewalks at the Police or beat up garbage truck drivers and steal their vehicles to block the road while they riot.

How anyone could be in Thailand for more than a week and not be aware of those two facts speaks volumes.

the 2006 coup was cheered by many well-off Thai residents, businessmen, intellectuals, reporters, academics and others, but criticism increased after the country's economy faltered.

The people who cheered Thaksin's removal were all those who had access to TV channels BESIDES the ones he owned.

The seeds of Thailands current economic problems were sowed well before 2006. Thaksin and associates made it virtually impossible to do business in Thailand and as foreign businesses began to leave his response was "we don't need them".

Next came outrageous visa restrictions and more and more fee increases. This might have been fine ten years ago but what Thailand is now finding out is that business can be done elsewhere in the region for cheaper and without all the difficulties. Cambodia, Vietnam and of course China have all opened up and are far more welcoming.

There are several problems with reporting on Thai politics. The most obvious one is language. I'd love to know more about We Vote No. But http://www.wevoteno.net/ is in Thai, a language I can't read. But how hard is it to find someone to read it too you? Not too hard.

The other problem is that the Thais themselves don't really consider it much of any one's business. It's a "Thai matter" so if you're not Thai well it doesn't concern you.

Thaksin was a complete tyrant and thoroughly corrupt. No one in Bangkok was surprised when the coup occurred. The new bunch haven't been in power long enough to be as corrupt as Thaksin was but they are no geniuses either. The seem to want to turn back the clock and have the people living in bamboo huts and riding elephants, like the good old days.

How this will turn out is any one's guess. I'd be surprised if the new constitution goes though.

Gore Snubs Thailand

Eco Evangelist and former Vice President Al Gore has cancelled his trip to Thailand supposedly due to a heavy workload. Could it be possible that he's afraid of further riots?

Gore Snubs Thailand Visit

Al Gore has canceled a scheduled appearance in Bangkok to give a talk on global warming scheduled for next month due to workload.

The former US Vice President was originally scheduled to arrive in the capital on August 8 but his representatives have now confirmed that the event will not be taking place due to Gore’s heavy workload.

Gore had earlier accepted an invitation from the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), an independent business association that links economies of the Asia-Pacific region to come to Thailand to talk about global warming.

Ever since the 2000 election which he lost to President George W Bush, Gore has been channeling his energy on saving the planet from irrevocable change through global warming. His documentary on this topic, “An Inconvenient Truth”, gained worldwide popularity and won an Oscar for Best Documentary in February this year.

Appearing in his place will be hundreds of filthy backpackers dressed in floppy clothes who will mill about at various beaches and cafes and talk about how seeing the world has really put in all in perspective, man.
